Things like that don't just happen...

Kia Ora,

This past week was a really good week. It was one of those weeks where you just feel super good about the work that you have done. It is awesome feeling even if you weren't super successful, you still enjoyed it and know that you did your best. We had a really cool experience earlier on in the week. When Elder Canoy and I got in the car and we were low on gas. So we went to fill up and when we get to the gas station none of the pumps were working. They were all out of service. We had no idea what to do and remember, we stay in a very small town so this is the only gas station in our town. The next one is 30 minutes away. So there is no way we could make it to another one that far away. We started to think about what we could do because the gas light was on so we could hardly do anything. So we went back to the flat and said a prayer. We prayed that Heavenly Father would give us direction and guidance on what we should do.We got the impression to knock some doors around our flat. We both were kinda like what the heck? These doors have been knocked on by missionaries several times over that past few years. But we did it anyway because thats what we felt like we needed to do. We started at our neighbors house just next door to us and we know them pretty well but they have never really been that interested. We knocked on there door and some one else came to the door. It ended up being on of there kids who was in town visiting and he was baptized a few years ago and has been less active since than. We started talking to him and he let us in. We asked him about his baptism and all of that stuff and asked why he had stopped going to church.  He told us and we were able to help him and just talk to him about it. I won't share what it was that was keeping him from going. So if we had been able to fill our car up on gas we would have gone to a completely different part of our area and never thought to have gone there. He was only there for a few days but we were able to catch him and talk to him. It was such a cool experience. It’s so cool how the Lord works, to the extent that he made sure that the gas pumps were broken haha. It’s kinda funny as well. Things like that don't just happen, they happen for a reason. It’s even funnier by the time we finished we went back to the gas station and the pumps worked. Crazy aye?
Also this week we attended a funeral. That was good. I love the culture and tradition that the Maori's have for there funerals. It’s like a 3 day thing and heaps of food. It’s honestly one of the cooler things you could be apart of. It’s just so unique and different and very special and sacred. That’s all I have for this week though. I hope all is well. Love ya heaps!

Kia Ora,

This week was pretty normal. We had Zone Conference and that was good. I also met Elder and Sister Bartlett. They said hi to me and knew my name and where I was from and it really freaked me out cause I had no idea who they were until they told me. It was funny.
Nothing to new this week. We have quite a few potential investigators whom are members have referred to us which we think have some potential. Last night was really awesome. we went over to our Branch Presidents house for dinner and they always put on a nice dinner but they also had 3 non members there for us which was really cool. I think they were all 19. So we had dinner with them and had a good time and then we had a good lesson afterwards with them. One of them was super interested though and he came to church yesterday as well. He also came to stake conference last week as well so he seems really interested and insisted that he come to church as well. So he is really cool and showing some interest.
Man… I just realized how boring this letter is haha. Our area is kinda boring at the moment. Not a lot is happening. We have transfers this upcoming week. I don't think anything will happen with Elder Canoy and I. It is weird cause when you think time can't speed up anymore it just keeps getting faster and faster. I basically have 4 and a half months left. After Elder Canoy I will probably only have one other companion and be in one other area. (im not trunky or anything) Tha’ts all I have for this week.

Love ya!

Yup, I'm Blessed to be in New Zealand

Kia Ora,

Man, I am starting to run out of things to say on my emails. Not that anything isn't happening, it’s just that everything is the same and pretty boring. So with that being said I will do my best to make this exciting. I think some of the pictures I have are really nice so that should add to the excitement.
Monday night I was able to go on trade off with Elder Ateo. They had 2 appointments at the same time so we did a trade off with them. We went to an FHE with a less active family and had a sweet lesson with them. We just talked about prophets and had a little game to go along with it. They are one of those families that if there isn't a game or something involved they won't listen. But once you tell them you have a game for them to play they are so interested. It’s like when you pull out a treat for a dog and they get all excited. It’s pretty funny.
Tuesday we had a really good district meeting. We went on a drive to the top of one of the mountains here in Whangarei and had an object lesson at the top which was really cool. We talked about prayer and its importance and all of that sort of stuff. It was nice that our district leader mixed it up for us because like me, he is getting sick of us all ways having the same training's. We were able to start off the week really well though this week. Our weeks always seem to start off pretty slow and pick up later on in the week. But this week was different which was really good.
We went to Wellsford on Wednesday which is our other area we cover and went to see our branch president to see if there is anyone that he wants us to see. We were able to get a few new names which was really helpful because that area doesn't have a whole lot going for it at the moment. So that was able to help get us going. We were also able to do a service for one of our investigators there as well. It’s been a while where we have been able to spend quality time in that area and it was nice to spend some time there this week. In our other area, bream bay we received a referral from our young woman's president. The girls name is Rayleen. Now I knew who she was but I didn't know she wasn't a member. she comes to church heaps with her grandma. I honestly thought she was a member. Her dad who is less active and in a gang wants her to be apart of the church. She just isn't quite sure if she is ready to be baptized yet so we will be trying to figure out that whole situation. But we really think she will be able to get baptized. The down side to our week was most of our appointments got canceled last minute which was a bummer.
Also this week was one of the more trunky weeks that I have had. I started to think about Lake Powell and wakeboarding and that made me super trunky. I just miss it so much and I'm struggling knowing that I only have 5 months lefts till I can wakeboard again.
Anyways, that’s pretty much how the week has gone. I will include some pictures of our service that we did and some pictures of the sun setting. And these pictures make me never want to leave New Zealand! Every time I look at them I think how blessed I am to be in a place like this. This country is unreal and I'm not even in the best part of New Zealand. I love you heaps and hope you have a fantastic week!
